What are the components of a Registered Apprenticeship?

01   Business Involvement

Establishing a registered apprenticeship program can take fewer than 30 days. Once established, apprenticeship programs reduce turnover rates, increase productivity, lower the cost of recruitment and increase safety in the workplace or job site.

02   Structure OJT

On-thejob-training can vary from 1 to 5 years (no less than 2000 hours) depending on the occupation training requirements. Time-Based, Competency-Based, Hybrid-Based. The Mentor is an Expert Craftsperson and has mastered the skills, knowledge, and competencies of the job.

03   Structured JRE

Establishing a registered apprenticeship program can take fewer than 30 days. Once established, apprenticeship programs reduce turnover rates, increase productivity, lower the cost of recruitment and increase safety in the workplace or job site.

04   Rewards

Benchmarks are set by the employer to increase the apprentice's pay. Apprentice wage may not be less than thirty-five percent (35%) of the established Journeyworker wage rate during the first period and not less than seventy five percent (75%) in the last period.

05   Credential

Upon program completion, apprentices earn a portable, nationally-recognized credential within an industry.
